You should choose the art that depicts your personality and the kind of art that you like to see. If you like the contemporary or abstract or traditional art form or prefer things to be old world and vintage then finding pieces that you like would make your home more personal. At the same time, one should not shy away from combining different styles and accumulating a vast and varied array of items.

  1. Consider the Room’s Purpose

Consider the purpose of the room you will be decorating with your art pieces; for example, it is suitable to organize flowy and quiet paintings for bedrooms and bathrooms, while concise and bright tones will be suitable for living rooms or kitchens. The type of art to be paid for should be informed by the kind of mood that needs to be established.

  1. Be Aware of the Size and the Scale

Regardless of the type of wall art that you decide to put on your wall the size of the art should fit the wall as well as the furniture around that wall. It is comprehensible that extensive lunging pieces will be appropriate when used in large rooms; whereas, compact ones is appropriate in cramped spaces. Typically there should be two thirds to three quarters of art above a piece of furniture, meaning leaving one quarter to one third of the wall free of artwork.

It is wise for the colors used in your wall art to match the tones of the room where the art will be placed. In reference to color, you can use art to bring in new color where it wasn’t before, or you can use art to reuse the color that you already have in your décor. To obtain an aesthetical and organized appeal, it is advisable for colors to be harmonized in a coherent and orderly manner.

Try propping bigger items against the wall like on shelves or on a mantel, so they do not take up too much of the space. Thus it can give more of a laid back and an informal environment while at the same time it is flexible whereby it is easy to change up the items.
